On 28 November 2008, KPMG and representatives of major Russian companies discussed the basic changes to IFRS in light of the current situation on the financial market. The conference was held in Moscow, at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel.

At the conference, practical questions were discussed regarding the application of various standards, taking into account the latest changes and new requirements on providing financial statements, as well as the future development prospects of IFRS. Attendees heard speeches from partners, directors and senior managers from KPMG's Audit, Corporate Finance, and Business Advisory Departments.

Andrei Shvetsov, a Partner in the Audit Department, acted as the official host of the conference. In his opening remarks, he dealt with the question of the financial crisis and its consequences for financial reporting. Other topics were also discussed at the event, including: the valuation of financial instruments in the changed market situation, and disclosure of information about them; valuating assets, checking them for impairment, and disclosing impairment losses in practice; managing working capital under changed economic conditions, and other topics.
